Chimayo
When I first saw the little shrine to Santo Nino at Chimayo I thought it was people praying for babies that were leaving the tiny shoes there. Later I found out that Santa Nino is believed to walk the desert at night. He is said to go out to help prisoners, the poor and hungry. In doing this he wears his little shoes out and so people leave new ones for him to wear.
